Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, cosmetic tattooing, and Intradermal Pigmentation, is a revolutionary cosmetic technique which involves the use of a pen containing iron oxide to have a permanent pigmentation of the dermis. It is achieved by inserting colored natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. The procedure uses a very fine needle that makes hundreds of tiny perforations per minute. It produces articulate designs that resemble makeup which is commonly done on lips, eyelids, and eyebrows.
Each procedure takes between 30 to 120 minutes depending on its complexity. Qualified technicians use an anesthetic to numb the area being tattooed. At first, the color will appear brighter or darker, but over time, it will fade. The area will be swollen within 2-5 days and crust will form before healing just like a normal tattoo.
Permanent makeup has been commonly used as a cosmetic enhancement. It’s used as a cover-up for stretch marks, birthmarks, age spots, and uneven discolorations. The procedure helps for those who are suffering in medical conditions like alopecia, vitiligo, and people who underwent chemotherapy.

PERMANENT LIP MAKEUP
This procedure is done for those who want to have more defined lips or want to add some color on their lips. As people age, one will lose pigment around their lips causing unnatural spots. Permanent lip makeup compensates for the pigmentation loss and colors the lips with more luscious and natural shade.
PERMANENT EYELINER
This procedure enhances the shape and natural beauty of the eyes. This procedure is best for those busy people who want to save time or for those who have a hard time putting on eyeliner. This also reduces the stretching of the skin on your eyelid due to the eyeliner application.
PERMANENT EYEBROW
The permanent eyebrow is totally different from microblading. The former uses tattoo dyes to fill in a dimensional brow shape and any spare spots. As for the latter, it uses a super fine pen to softly deposit pigment into the skin. It creates tiny hairlike strokes to make brows look thicker and appear more natural. Microblading is less invasive compared to the permanent tattoo since it is not deeply inserted into the skin. These procedures are commonly done to those who lost their hair due to old age or disease, such as alopecia totalis or chemotherapy.
PRICES OF PERMANENT MAKEUP
The average cost of permanent makeup can range from $50 – $1000 depending on the type of makeup, body part treated, number of visits needed and the skill level of the makeup technician or artist. Some procedures have touch-up treatments included that can add to the cost.
The price is mainly influenced by the technician since the results depend on their experience and skill set.
